Leadership Team

Mr. Peter Ediss has proudly served as Headteacher at Telscombe Cliffs Academy since September 2023, following six successful years as Deputy Headteacher. His deep understanding of the school’s ethos and community has shaped a leadership style rooted in continuity, ambition, and care.

Before joining Telscombe Cliffs, Peter spent three years as Deputy Headteacher at Manor Primary School in Uckfield, where he developed a strong foundation in strategic leadership and curriculum development. He earned the National Qualification for Headship in 2020, reflecting his commitment to excellence in education.

Peter’s journey into teaching began in 2006 after completing a PGCE at the University of Brunel. Prior to that, he graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Hertfordshire in 2000 and worked in the pensions industry—an experience that sharpened his analytical thinking and long-term planning skills, which now inform his approach to school leadership.

Beyond the classroom, Peter brings a unique energy to our school. A keen runner and table tennis enthusiast, he’s also a passionate general knowledge quizzer. His love of learning has taken him to the highest levels of UK quizzing, including winning the prestigious Brain of London title in 2016—defeating three-quarters of the England A team in the process. He’s competed alongside some of the country’s top quiz players, including two of television’s Chasers.

Peter channels this passion for knowledge into his educational philosophy, using quizzing as a tool to help pupils deepen their contextual understanding across the curriculum. He believes that knowledge builds confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Under his leadership, Telscombe Cliffs Acadmey continues to thrive as a place where every child is known, valued, and inspired to succeed.
